Move the mouse over the picture or click a numberTertiary Treatment combines chemical pre-treatment (coagulation/precipitation and flocculation) with Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) and sometimes sand filtration, to enhance the quality of the effluent from a secondary clarifier. The combined process will substantially reduce the suspended solids content and can also contribute to COD reduction and / or color removal before discharging the effluent into a river or other receiving waters.
